From Gaza to Iran to the United States, there is a growing effort by marginalized citizens of Colonial nations to equate their struggles for civil rights to the anti-Colonial resistance movements being engaged in by truly marginalized Indigenous peoples. These acts of conflation, the merging of disparate political causes and goals, serve only to erase Indigenous peoples’ voices and our struggles for real independence! Further, it weakens every minority’s fight for social justice, when causes are not kept clearly defined in social narratives.
For example, it was Indigenous Kurdish women and men that initiated the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî (woman, life, freedom)” revolution, that aroused Islamist Iran into crushing it by mass imprisonments, murders, and ethnic cleansing of Kurds within Iran. Yet, to this very day, the Arab-European world celebrates the claimed resistance of the Iranian women, a highjacking of this Indigenous resistance voice.
In the United States, African Americans have done the same (as the Iranian women) to the Indigenous nations of Michilimackinac, highjacking the anti-Colonial Indigenous resistance movement, while they and their (former) Colonial enslavers experience a privileged social status that is above the Indigenous. The only Apartheid in the land of Israel is the Islamic Apartheid that is keeping Indigenous Jews away from the Colonial Arab Al-Aqsa “Mount Rushmore” mosque sitting upon the most sacred area of Jewish land.
