The only people trying to achieve PEACE and SECURITY is the indigenous Israeli people! For those who are perplexed: There are two types of “vengeance” in Torah, our Jewish people’s sacred ancestral writings!
In one form of vengeance, the Jewish people are prohibited from engaging in this – vigilantism, an act of personal revenge based on perceived wrongdoing by another. This form of vengeance, the laws of nekama, is tied specifically in Torah to the sanctification law to love your Israeli neighbor as yourself.
“You will not take revenge from nor bear a grudge against the members of your people, you will love your neighbor as yourself. I am ha’Shem.” (Vayikra 19:18, לא־תקם ולא־תטר את־בני עמך ואהבת לרעך כמוך אני י-הוה). A nation is only just when the same standards of law apply to all members of this nation. Hence,
The Creator proclaims “Vengeance belongs to me and will be paid when their foot stumbles” (D’varim 32:35, לי נקם ושלם לעת תמוט רגלם). In Tehilim, the two names of the Creator surrounds “vengeance” – “El vengeance ha’shem, El show revenge!” (Tehilim 94:1, אל־נקמות י-הוה אל נקמות הופיע). El is the chief deity, and the-Name is the Canaan land’s ruling god in the ancient pantheon, before Jews went henotheistic in the 2nd Temple period.
So, vigilantism is outlawed, but sanctified vengeance is still a mitzvah (a divine obligation) upon the people of Israel! This kind of revenge is necessary for peace and security. Now, how do we know this to be true within our Torah? It is our sacred indigenous stories that make this clear to the Jewish people, and this is why military service is mandatory for all Jews in Israel (and only voluntary for all other citizens of Israel).

Sha’ban al-Sayed, the father of Hisham al-Sayed – the Israeli Bedouin 🪬🇮🇱 who was released from the Gaza Terror Strip 🇵🇸 today after spending TEN YEARS in captivity – this father “has told Kan radio that he was shocked by the poor mental and physical state of his son following his release, adding that Hisham was “destroyed, emotionally and cognitively.”
“His mental condition is in a bad state, he doesn’t communicate, and he looks like he was in a torture camp for 10 years,” said Sha’ban al-Sayed. “We didn’t think to ourselves that Hamas would be so cruel.”
Al-Sayed hails from the Bedouin town of Hura in the Negev. Upon his release, Hamas did not hold a propaganda handover ceremony as it had done with other hostages.
