Look at the snapshot below – world religions? Interpreting “the Bible” as desired in the moment, to justify your theology/ideology is NOT “following Christ”! It is following your religious bigotry and racisms. A true follower of “Jesus”, the Jew from Nazareth, would refrain from doing that which offends his “Father”, as established by the Torah (Law) and Nevi’im (Prophets).
There is our ancestral Torah that knows nothing about “faith” and Rambam’s Torah that demands “faith”. The Torah mitzvah is to “love” G-d, not to “have faith” nor to “know/believe” in G-d’s existence. Maimonides’ mitzvah is to “know” that G-d exists. In both cases, “G-d” is Y-HWH.
To the Torah, Y-HWH is the Canaan Judean land of Israel’s god-King, who interacts with all the other lands’ ruling god-Kings. To Maimonides, Y-HWH is a pantheistic Creator god of all existence that all peoples have their own names for.
The closest that we native Jews and all other Indigenous peoples know is that G-d is in our origin stories, which we share with our children and our children’s children. This is all the “knowing” that we need and this doesn’t change the Torah’s first obligation for Jews, to show “love” for Y-HWH by wrestling with and fulling the mitzvot/halachot of our Jewish people.

A FB post is simply unable to do justice to his illustrious career or sufficiently convey the immensity and ingenuity of his scholarship. (His Wikipedia page can give you some sense of who he was-as long as you take what they say with a grain or two of salt–like everything else Wikipedia writes.)
He was prolific. He wrote numerous seforim and published countless articles, but the crowning masterpiece is his new translation of all of Maimonides’ works that were written in Arabic. (The Guide, the Mishnah commentary, etc.) Rav Kafach was a native speaker of the language and thus set about to produce a new translation of his works. He was a meticulous scholar, laboring endlessly on every word, thus making sure that the Hebrew precisely conveys what Rambam was saying.
His translation was revolutionary, and resulted in many far-reaching changes in our understanding of some of Maimonides’ ideas and tropes. For scholars of Rambam there is the pre-Kafach era and the post-Kafach era. His work transformed the field.
One can provide many examples of his transformative impact but for me personally the most important chiddush was one that caused some tremors in the foundations of my faith.
One of Rambam’s books is called Sefer HaMitzvot. In it he enumerates the 613 commandments, the first one of which is the commandment to have faith. We are obligated to “believe” in the existence of God.
Pretty simple and straightforward.
Then Rav Kafach came along, reread the Arabic and said that we got it wrong, the translation is incorrect, etymologically and philosophically.
It should read as follows: we are obligated to KNOW that God exists. The commandment is to KNOW it, not merely to BELIEVE it.
That pulled the rug from under the foundations of my own faith.
As a matter of faith, I BELIEVE that God exists, but I don’t KNOW it as a scientific (philosophical) and empirical fact. In fact, I don’t believe that such a thing is KNOWABLE in an empirical sense. There is no EVIDENCE of God’s existence–at least not any that I have seen and found convincing. As far as I can tell all the PROOFS that have been proffered over the years turned out to be flawed and insufficient.
We therefore can’t KNOW that God exists, we however can choose to BELIEVE that it is so.
In fact, not only can’t we know, we also should not want to know. If one knows empirically that God exists they are missing out on what most of classical Judaism thinks is the core essence of the Mitzva–Rambam notwithstanding. Conventionally understood, we are commanded to subserviently accept God’s existence in spite of the fact that we cannot prove it.
However, according to Rav Kafach translation of Rambam, merely “BELIEVING” in God’s existence is insufficient. Such a person fails to fulfill the very first commandment and is considered to be one without faith. And that “faithless” person would be me. We are supposed to KNOW that God exists and I, as much as I FEEL God’s existence in every fiber of my being, I don’t think I will ever know it as an empirical and provable fact. If faith means “KNOWING” that there is a God I am doomed to be a person without faith.
Be that as it may, Rav Kafach’s contribution to Jewish learning and Jewish thought is immeasurable, especially the bright new light he shone on Maimonides, and today is the day we remember and celebrate this great and enormous mind, whose torah is vast and deep. ארוכה מארץ מדה ורחבה מני ים. Yehei zichro baruch!”
And the reason that this sharing is so ineffective, worldwide, in awakening human minds is that the Colonial Christian/European, Muslim/Arab, and Marxist propagated doctrine teaches humans that Jews are “colonizers” upon our own ancestral land, thus deserving of Colonial Arab non-Native “indigenous resistance” to our successfully and forcibly decolonized regained national sovereignty as the Jewish people – upon our land of Israel.
For decades now, we Jews and our supporters have tried to reason with European and Arab Conquistadors and their successfully colonized – on an imagined “equivalent” footing – with only ANOTHER October 7th SHOAH to show for it! The Christian, Muslim, and Marxist occupied world are NOT going to listen to the Jewish people AND our Native allies worldwide – UNTIL the Christian, Muslim, and Marxist colonized world recognizes, understands, and ACCEPTS that Jews are the Indigenous people of our Judean Canaan land of Israel – and have a legitimate Native say about this really small piece of land “real estate”.
Until the descendants and adherents to Colonial Christianity and Islam recognize that they are inheritors of Indigenous Judean people’s writings and ancestors – through northern Aegean and southern Arabian colonialism – then this cycle of oppression for the “allahu akbar” and “Jesus Christ” dominionism upon this planet Earth – at the lived expense of ALL Indigenous peoples worldwide – will continue to happen! Perpetually! Not all humans, especially Native humans, are willing to be assimilated into Colonial dominionism!
And the Jewish people – the Native Jewish people of our Canaan land of Israel – will continue to be the “light” worldwide! The always first hated and targeted Indigenous people, by citizens of successfully colonized Christian, Muslim, and Marxist lands all around this planet Earth. We as Jews have got to restore our Native Judean narrative before the worldwide Colonizers of planet Earth, so that the racist anti-Indigenous antisemitism – created by appropriating Christianity – actually comes to an END.
Every ally of the Jewish people needs to do the same! STOP speaking in the Colonial language of the absolutist religious oppressors of our planet Earth! This is the 21st century CE! And we humans need to embrace peace, security, and genuine representation for all still surviving peoples upon our planet Earth! There should NOT be so many explanation points in this posted comment!
